CycleNation is a movement with a variety of high-energy cycling events to raise funds for the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
How much of my donation goes directly to the cause?
100% of the funds raised by CycleNation will go directly toward fighting heart disease and stroke.
What will my donation be used for?
The American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association fund life-saving research, faster diagnosis and better treatment. The organizations also promote healthy living habits, awareness of heart disease and stroke and advocate for heart and brain-healthy legislation. Some of the achievements funded by donors like you include:
- 13 Nobel Prize winners have been funded by the American Heart Association
- 18,000 lives saved from stroke since 2010
- 1.3 million teens trained in CPR last year

Is there a fee for registering?
There is no registration fee for CycleNation. There is a minimum fundraising goal of $1,000 per bike.
I am not an expert cyclist or in “top” physical condition. Can I still participate?
As long as you feel confident in your ability to pedal for an hour, you should be fine! We are more interested in having fun than competing! However we do require that you approve a waiver during the registration process.
The event I want to ride in is full — is there a wait list?
Yes, we will be glad to take your name and contact information and let you know if a bike becomes available. Simply click here to access the online waiting list.
How can I get my company involved?
The best way is to start a company team! We can help you announce the event to your employees and provide you with any promotional materials you need. Contact us and we can help you put a plan together.
What are the responsibilities of the team captain?
A team captain has two main responsibilities. First, recruit your team. We make it easy with email templates to send to your friends, family and colleagues asking them to join you. Second, support the team in meeting your fundraising goal. Shoot them updates and encouragement via email from your Participant Center, shout out to them on Facebook when they reach fundraising milestones, etc.
How many riders and bikes can I have on my team?
A team can reserve online up to 4 bikes. Each bike can have 8 riders. If you have a team larger than 16 people, please contact us and we can help register you.

Is there a fundraising minimum?
The minimum fundraising requirement is $1,000 per bike. But with multiple team members, why not aim higher?
Our Individual Challenge riders have a fundraising minimum of $4,000.
What happens if I don’t make my goal? Will I get charged?
Individual Challenge riders will also need to pay the balance of their $1,000 fundraising minimum on the day of the event.

How does it work with matching contributions from my company?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.
Find out if your company has a matching gift policy. If you do not find your employer through this online search, please check with your company to see if it offers a matching gift program. If it does, request a matching gift form from your employer, and bring it to the event completed and signed with your cash or check gift. Or, if you’ve made a donation online, we can pull the receipt for you.

Where do I mail checks given to me by supporters?
Hang onto them and bring them with you to the event.
How do I donate toward a person or a team?
It’s easy to search for a team member or team. Your online donation is secure, and you have the choice of your name appearing on the team or team member’s page or remaining anonymous.
How will my donation appear on my credit card statement?
Is my donation tax-deductible?
The American Heart Association|American Stroke Association is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Can my kids come to the event? Will there be activities to keep them occupied?
This will vary depending on what site location you’re attending. Please contact us and we can get you information on your location.
How long do I ride? Do I have to ride the full hour — or can we split it up?
Each bike can have up to four riders. However you want to split that four hour shift up between you is up to you!
