Janine Simone Joubert passed away from a sudden, massive heart attack September 20th, 2010 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where she lived and worked for the last 12 years. She was 48 years old. During her youth, Janine filled the shelves with trophies that she won as a member of the United States Twirling Association, as head majorette with the historical Dixie Dolls, and as a state swim and track competitor. Throughout her adulthood, Janine continued to take pride in and maintain her athletic abilities. What is so compelling about Janine's story is that her father, Dr. Daniel Joubert, also died of a sudden, massive heart attack at the age of 48. And like Janine, her father was an accomplished athlete. Because father and daughter died so young, both still having so much to offer humanity, our family feels that supporting the American Heart Association is critical to resolving the crisis of heart disease facing so many families. Please join us in our support of this vital organization.

My wife and I met Janine in Puerto Vallarta in Aug. 2010 at the small Old Town restaurant where she worked part time and were taken by her friendly open nature and big smile.
Of those one meets along the way when travelling, we remembered her fondly.
Today, I returned to the same restaurant and asked about her to only to learn of her sudden death and impact it has had on her Mexican friends.
We wish her peace and our thoughts are with Janine and her family in the US.

I have 2 generation of heart attack/stoke who lived a very healthy lifestyle. They consistently had low cholesterol, triglycerides, normal HDL levels, no lung problems and yet ended up having a stoke. Later they said that the carotid is blocked 80% both sides.
There is so much said about exercising, vegetarian and it does not match when the same individual has a heart attack or a stroke.
I have come to believe you get heart attack based on primarily your emotional and psychological health based on your relationship with CHRIST ALONE.
PROVERBS 6:16-19
There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching.

Janine's story truly touched my heart for several reasons. The first, and most compelling is that her life was taken so suddenly at the age of 48. My ex-husband (and father of my three oldest children) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 25, 2011 - also at the age of 48. His cause of death was HCM, or Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. I am now in the process of having our children screened for this disease. Wishing Janine's family and loved ones peace as we all continue to fight for a cure for heart disease.
