Running the Badwater Ultramarathon!

On July 16th of 2005, my family was forever changed in an instant by the passing of my father at the young age of 55 from a sudden heart attack. To any casual observer, my father was a picture of good health. He ate well, didn't smoke, and was a healthy weight. A few weeks before his passing, he had been given a clean bill of health at his annual physical and was even told that his cholesterol numbers were looking good.

Heart Disease is such an indiscriminate killer and is ubiquitous in our society.

I'm hoping that with this memorial, I can raise awareness and funds to help benefit the American Heart Association and other families that are faced with Heart Disease.

In 2010 I began this memorial for my dad in order to raise money for the American Heart Association as I walked the entire 2650 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. Throughout the 4 month journey, I was able to raise over $1500.00 thanks to the help of some incredible people.

This year, I hope to continue that trend as I toe the line at the 2012 Badwater Ultramarathon. Considered to be one of the toughest footraces in the world, the 135-mile long Badwater ultramarathon has competitors running from Death Valley up to the Mt. Whitney Portal. I will head out to Southern California in mid-July and face temperatures as high as 130F, as I make my way from the lowest point in the Western Hemisphere (280' below sea level) to the base of Mt. Whitney. Please sponsor my trip and donate whatever you can to my father's memorial fund and help to eliminate the pervasive and silent killer: Heart Disease.
