Dear Friends and Family,
On November 28, 2010 I will be running in the Amica Seattle Half-Marathon in order to raise money for the American Stroke Association.
Stroke is a disease that
affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. It is the No. 3 cause of
death in the United States, behind diseases of the heart and cancer. A
stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the
brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, part of the
brain cannot get the blood (and oxygen) it needs, so it starts to die.
As many of you know, this is a personal cause for me. On September 21, 2009, my grandma had a major stroke and life for her and us, her family, has never been the same.
I am asking friends and family to consider sponsoring me for this event
to help me meet my personal goal of raising $1000 for the American Stroke Association. I would greatly
appreciate your kind consideration by making a donation toward this goal. All
donations are, of course, tax deductible.
Thank you for your help!
Alissa
