Sophia was born September 15th 2008. She was our 4th child, she was perfect to us, so we thought 3 days after she was born. She was diagnosed with Aortic valve Stenosis. That made her our second with a heart defect. Our first was diagnosed at 3 months old with atrial sepal defect. They saw doctors a lot when they were little and they always told us she would never need surgery and she never showed any signs of having a heart defect, she was always on the go. Her daddy serves in the U.S. marines and when she was 2 ½ he deployed for 6 months it was a good deployment she saw her Cardiac doctor and he told me that there's no reason to see them every year and I was so happy I went home and told her daddy in an email and he was thrilled as well. A month later she turned 3 and I took her horseback riding for the first time. It was so much fun and 3 months later he came home for his deployment and we were a family again. We celebrated their big sisters birthday. February 28th 2012 our lives changed completely it the day Sophia passed away. The Events of this day will forever be in my mind every minute I can remember every word she spoke before is there in my mind. Congestive Heart Failure took her life to soon and without any signs or warning. I wish I could have had her to hold just a little longer but the 3 amazing years I got with her I would never have changed. She was the light my life with every smile and her Big Beautiful Gypsy eyes as her grandpa called them.

In Loving Memory of Sophia Analiese Amos Sept 15, 2008 - February 28, 2012
The one feature that stood out to me about Sophia were her dark and mysterious eyes. They just seemed to make her appear to have a gypsy like soul deep inside. Sophia had a smile that would warm any heart.
There are no promises or guarantees as to how long we remain here with our loved ones. But life isn't just about the beginning or the end, it isn't about how many birthdays we celebrate. Life is all about the journey we are put here to complete. We know we are only given time to celebrate the precious moments as our loved ones complete their journey. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BE ANGRY when our loved ones are taken too soon, but we remember to celebrate their life and not their departure.
Sophia showed us that she had determination to complete her task in a very short time. She taught her brother and sisters that it doesn't matter how big or how small you are. You can't just take someone's personal space without a fight. It's just a simple principle, personal space is worth fighting for. She stood her ground and said "NO you can't take my space in this life". She was determined to make a mark for herself.
Sophia also proved that sharing isn't a request, but a requirement in life. She taught us that sharing isn't just about your toys, but about loving, caring for others, and your sharing your emotions. She had no problem showing her emotions, be it crying, or yelling. She leaves us with the question, If Jesus knocked on your door today would you be willing to share all you have with him?
Sophia loved helping her mom around the house. While her brother and sisters complained about picking up after her, she was busy helping mom sweep the kitchen. Sophia always had a happiness inside when she was helping others.
On her final day, Sophia must have realized her journey was complete. She was smiling, happy and fun to be with. She played in the house with her play kitchen and shared her imaginary food with her mom. Sophia, Savannah, Tom and Chrissy decided to take short walk before the arrival of the older children. Sophia ran and played then stopped to pick flowers and gave them to her Dad. Sophia then went over to her Mother raised her hands to her and requested a hug. Chrissy lifted her up and Sophia laid her head on her shoulder. In the blink of an eye she was taken to heaven. A FLOWER FOR DAD, A HUG FOR MOM What more beautiful way could she have said goodbye to her parents?
Sophia has completed her journey.

We wish to thank you once again for the beautiful ideas you gave Jeremy when preparing her post-graduate research as well as, most importantly, for providing each of the ideas in a single blog post. In case we had known of your website a year ago, we might have been rescued from the needless measures we were choosing. Thank you very much.

Never forgotten always in our hearts.every time I see a butterfly I think of Sophia. How could I not we have a name in common. You all are always in my heart. We may not get to see each other as much as we like but when we do we make the most of it, because u never know if it will be the last time we see each other again.
Love you all

Sophia was my great grand daughter. Although I did not get to know her as I would have liked, because of the distance in our homes, I did keep her in my thoughts, as I still do. I have 5 sons, no daughters, so you may know, my grand daughters and great-grand daughters, have a special meaning to me. God Bless Our Special Angel

Sophia was my granddaughter and I miss her each day. I built a small rock garden in her memory and think about her each time I go to water it. The garden has a small waterfall and a pond with small fish. The garden attracts butterflies and that helps to think how much she would have loved this place. It was such a sad day when we got the word that she was gone. The story of her last day with her parents helps me to know how much God loved her and allowed her to say goodbye to them before she left. None of us can count on another day here on earth, so we share the love we have with each of the people we meet along our journey.
Rest in Peace Angel. We think of you each day.
